Increase your performance by 500%

In building a business, coaching, speaking, and writing it can get overwhelming sometimes!  You know what I'm sayin'?

I've always thought if I'm not working hard enough then I'm not making progress!  Well, I just interviewed the #1 leading expert on human performance, Steven Kotler and he BLEW MY MIND with what he told me.

Listen here to learn his secrets.

First off, this guy is epic.  Steven is a New York Times bestselling author, an award-winning journalist and the cofounder/director of research for the Flow Genome Project.  He scientifically validates and improves companies + individuals performance by 500%.  SAY WHAT?!

His writings have been translated into over 40 languages and appeared in over 80 publications, including The New York Times, Atlantic Monthly, Forbes, Wired and TIME.

One of my favorite books by him is the New York Times bestseller The Rise of Superman, one of the most talked about books in 2013 and the first book in history to land on national bestseller lists in the sports, science, and business categories simultaneously.

I mean come on, who doesn't want to be Superman!? I dress up like him every year for Halloween, no joke.

Truly, he is the expert of "flow."  Not like, "go with the flow bro."  Flow being an altered state of consciousness.

Ever have that moment when you completely lose yourself in your creative pursuits?  Or how time flies when you're having fun?  Or when you dig deep and find a hidden power within yourself?

That's flow!  In fact, most scientists and physiologists say that's what we're actually longing for... NOT happiness!  I know, I know, maybe some alarms went off, but listen here as Steven explains why.

Now, you would think the worlds expert on human performance would promote work, work, work.  NOPE!

In fact, recovery is a huge part of the process.  These are the four stages of flow and they are always repeating:

1.  Struggle

2.  Release

3.  Flow

4.  Recovery

This is SO important to understand because the first and last phase of flow SUCK!  And at the same time it's completely normal.

So don't beat yourself up if you feel like you're struggling, or wanting to recover, you have to in order to experience flow.

--> LISTEN HERE <-- To tap into flow and discover the truth about human performance.

And if you know someone who wants more flow in their life, please share this email!  Let me know in the comments, how do you plan on increasing your flow?

Live light,

Thanks for listening!

·      Taste freedom

·      Live from your values

·      Be your truth

Excerpts from the interview below.  For the full interview listen here.

The struggle to success story:

Joel:            I used to work in sales, and I wasn't 100% happy with where I was. The whole struggle of driving to and from work, commuting in traffic each and every day. I think I was wasting like 2 hours a day sitting in traffic. It you do the math, that's like around about 10 hours a week, 40 hours a month, 400 something hours a year, and yeah, just really wasting a life.

For me, I've always had it in me to want to achieve the extraordinary, and I would do anything when I was younger to get better results, hustle and be more creative with whatever I was doing. I just wouldn't give up. It was a consistency, the persistence, and I got amazing results growing up doing all the outside the box things.

I've always looked up to your Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Stephen Covey, who else? Looking at T. Harv Eker, Les Brown. All those guys are so amazing. When I came up with the idea of starting a website, it’s that platform where I was able to really see who else out there in the world is obsessed with self-development like I am.

I pushed hard for it, man, because it's what I believed in, first and foremost, and then the money was secondary.

About 4 and a half years back, and while talking about casting your vision and also finding your values, things that you're good at, your strengths, identifying your weaknesses, and staying away from them, and that's really when I put the two together where I found that I was passionate about self-development, but I was also strong at using computers and technology, so I put the two together, and that really is what birthed idea of Addicted2Success.

Follow your passion and taste the freedom:

Joel:            I was obviously following my passion. I was interested in self-development. It was my highest value, right?

Then I made a little bit of money. Then when I made enough money, I was able to leave my day job. When I left my day job, I had a taste of that freedom. When you have a taste of that freedom, then you realize, "Wow, money is important, but how much do I actually need?"

As the business has grown, I've also had to really grow as an individual as well because your business only grows to the extent that you do.

I tell a lot of people that I coach and I share advice with is that if you are able to just make an extra $500 a month, that shifts you into a completely different lifestyle. You can eat at better restaurants. You can drive a better car. You can not stress about the smaller bills. You can move to a different area where it's safer, and it's a little bit more pimped out, right?

Having that extra income can do crazy things, and that's why I'm such a fun of residual income, which is making money while you're sleeping, you wake up in the morning; there's that extra $30, $50, $100 or so a day. That can do huge things for you, your life, your relationship, your business, and whatever else you want to invest it in.

Make decisions based on your highest values not money.  Why Joel refused a million dollar buyout:

Joel:            I was offered a million dollars twice ... a million one time, and 1.2 the next. I said no because I knew, and still know, that my work is not done. I feel that we're just getting started with Addicted2Success.

I'm building a lot of my own personal brand as well, which is a great way to sky-rocket that if I have the platform in place already and then millions and millions of views every month.

Money isn't one of my highest values. It's up there, right, but it's not number 1, 2, or 3.  I think that I learned at a young age that you should really make decisions based off your highest values.

My highest values are self-development, travel, and relationship. Your values can always change, but it's always good to identify them and stick by them while making decisions.

Set your business up for success.  How to avoid the superman complex:

Whenever you run a business, it doesn't even have to be an online business, you should have a system in place. Automate things where you can, if you can, and also have a good team of people.

Have good people around you. I think that makes such a huge difference. I had this huge superman complex where for the first 2 and a half, 3 years, I didn't want to give any control or power over to anybody. I was so worried about letting somebody take over the social media or take over editing, and I really shot myself in the foot because I could have had a lot more freedom. I could have had a lot more time to work on my own things creatively and being in that creative space without worrying about the kind of non-income-generating activities or smaller activities.

Give a little bit of power over. Train some people up, and document the trainings just in case you need to hire somebody else, and do that, because you could be missing out on an extra hour in your day or 2 hours in your day for the other things that you value.

Have only the highest standards:

Set the standard or even raise the standard when you feel like you're getting the traffic, and you're getting the views, and you're getting the community around you ... Raise the standards a little bit, and keep them at that level, and don't really settle.

If I didn't receive any good articles and I couldn't write any articles myself, I just wouldn't post because I didn't want to sacrifice the sake of just putting something out for the sake of just to have an article out there like a lot of other websites do.

A lot of people don't understand that. They just want to get it out there and put every single article out. It's like trying to hit a target. You just shoot ... How many bullets can I shoot until I hit the bull's eye? How about getting better at that shot and then aiming and giving it some time before you pull the trigger? That's really the way I look at it.

I wanted every article to be quality. I really hope that what we're putting out is considered at least above average or extraordinary level, for sure.

Define your own version of success:

This is one thing that I like to teach other people, what is success to you? For me, what I used to do was I used to set my massive goals, but I'll also have the little goals along the way. It could be something as simple as like, "Oh, I want to get 200 shares on an article and put content out and wait," and then, oh, yeah, I just hit 200 shares. Celebrate that. Don't celebrate that for too long because you don't want to spend all the time celebrating.

Small achievements along the way give you that kind of feedback that what you're doing is right, that you're getting that progress going on, which is very important for anybody that needs to stay consistent or is trying to find that motivation.

Build your brand by focusing on community:

Joel:            Focus on community 100%. I don't encourage bullying or swearing at each other in comments or anything like that, right; so first and foremost, I delete those negative and bullying comments. It's a positive community.

Second thing is I encourage people to share. I don't go pushy or sales-y with it. I just say, "Look, if you're really feeling this, please share this with your friends, fans, and followers." Another thing is, I like to send out questionnaires now and then or get some feedback from people.

Keep it personal, too. If you're the founder of the website, the CEO of the website, you want to put a picture of you in your signature and all that, like on the emails that you do when you do mail-outs. You want to have a bit of presence yourself so that people don't think it's just a brand.

Non-negotiable success habits you must adopt:

Joel:            The first thing, which is first and foremost, is the foundation of really getting yourself started with self-development is finding your values. Then you've got your beliefs. Then you have your habits. Then you have your skills.

The beliefs, habits, and skills are really the key cornerstones to success because your beliefs are really about your mindset, how much you believe that you can really achieve that.  They’re really the 3 key cornerstones, and the foundation is the values.

As far as habits go, Charlene, my wife, and I learned a pretty cool little morning routine from Robin Sharma when we met him right about 6 weeks back. He does this thing called the 20/20/20 in the morning; usually what we do is we start off the day with 20 minutes of self-development, 20 minutes of meditation and visualization, and 20 minutes of exercise.

It's really going to set an awesome mood for your day, and you just got to imagine that what if I did wake up an hour earlier. I would have had that time, and I would have been on a way better foot than waking up an hour later and then trying to rush out the door.

The greatest piece of advice he’s ever received:

Joel:            The greatest advice that I ever received would have been from Tony Robbins when I interviewed Tony, I actually asked him a very specific about how to stand out in the self-development industry.

He said, "Look, this is what I know, Joel, of over the 30 or 40 years that I've been around doing this thing." He said that "the biggest advantage in business and in life is truth. The only way you can gain truth is through experience."

Through that experience with Tony, and then through my own understandings, is that you can hear all the advice that's out there. You can go and do your research. You can jump on Addicted2Success, and you can look at the hundreds and hundreds or thousands of articles that we have, but if you don't have your own philosophy, then all that stuff is everybody else's word, and if you're not putting the action into whatever you're learning, it's all just sitting in your head and dissipating away each and every day.

Yeah, I think really what it is is get out there, and we all really know what to do. We do. We've been told hundreds of times. If you listen to podcasts right now, this one in particular, or even one of mine... You would have already received all the great advice from them anyway.

It's about putting in the action and getting that experience so that you can have your truth, and that is what people buy into. That's what people love. That's what is going to separate you from the rest.

And finally, Joel’s last 30 second speech to the world:

Joel:            "Live your life through your highest of highest values. That is the place where you'll be self-empowered, self-motivated. You won't need any external motivation. You'll light your own flame. Follow your values, and live your truth."

The Surprising Truth About Happiness.

Why do we hide?  I find myself asking that a lot.

It's funny, this is the first video I shot for Kip TV and it's taken me five months to release it.

I remember shooting this on the beach in Cape Cod and thinking, "this is the perfect shot!"  A couple night later, I was working an event at a crazy night club and I forced my friend to follow me around with an iPhone to get more footage.  You should have seen the looks we got!

The Surprising Truth About Happiness.

"Why do I hide?"  I found myself asking that a lot when I was first getting started.

It's funny, this was the first video I shot for Kip TV and it took me five months to release it.

I remember shooting this on the beach in Cape Cod and thinking, "this is the perfect shot!"  A couple nights later, I was working an event at a crazy night club and I forced my friend to follow me around with an iPhone to get more footage.  You should have seen the looks we got!

I was so PUMPED!  And then I GOT SCARED!

Sound familiar? Why do we do that?

Cause it's vulnerable as hell.  Cause I'm talking about issues and subjects that we normally sweep under the rug.  Watch here to see what I mean...

This video is how darkness shows up in our lives.  The fact that we all suffer. We all have dark moments that we're trying to hide from, when really what we're all trying to do is find a way back to the light.

But that's scary as hell to talk about.  Right?  No one wants to talk about the dark moments. No one wants to read about that.

The fact that we can't talk with vulnerability is the very problem.

After interviewing some of the most influential leaders in personal development, therapy, and spirituality, I realized that only when we are able to look at our darkness can we step into our light.  We can't hide from it, hiding only covers up our true potential.

"If you can't find it, then you can't define it.  And if you can't define it, then it will define you." ---> tweet it out!

Now, don't get me wrong, we all experience this.  It's human nature.  But how powerful would it be if we lived in a society that openly embraced vulnerable conversations?

You have that power!  You are meant to do any and everything you put your mind to.  It's time to claim your light!

You may be thinking, "But who am I to claim my true potential?"  That's what your ego would have you believe.  It's time to call that f'er out.

Check out this new episode of Kip TV for some answers. Or if you'd rather listen to it on the SoulFeed you can do that too.

If you know someone who's going through a dark time, please share this video so they know that we all have those moments.  So they know they're not alone.

Then in the comments, share your vulnerable story- it will feel oh sooooo good.

Till next time, claim your purpose, live your love, and spread your light.

Live Light,

P.S.  Vulnerability is sexy!

Kinja Dixon: How To Sell With Soul w/ the #1 Salesperson in the World

What do you think of when you hear the word “sales?”  Someone trying to rip you off?

Do you want to have an impact on the world?  Then you have to learn how to sell an idea, service, or your vision.  This SoulFeed episode is for you!

I used to hate the idea of “selling!”  To be honest, I was scared, and didn’t actually know what it meant to sell.  I felt like I was taking from people.

HOW DO YOU SELL WITH SOUL?

Luckily, my good friend Kinja Dixon, the #1 salesperson in the world has all the answers!

How’d he get that title?

He was awarded the Stevie and ARDY salesperson award out of millions of applicants, AND he’s the only person in history to win both!  DANNNNNNGGGG!

Listen to this episodewhere he breaks down the process, myths, and ways to sell with soul.

Point blank, we’re all selling something.  For instance, my girlfriend and I are going away this weekend and she tried to sell me on buying a tent.  I’ve never been in a tent before!!  But you know what?  SOLD, we’re going camping!

Whether it’s a direct sale or not, you’re selling.  These principles are UNIVERSAL.

You’ll learn these 5 full proof strategies to transform your relationship to “selling:”

  • Greeting

  • Discovery

  • Credibility

  • Recommendation Phase

  • Close

Man, I’ll never forget the first time I had to sell a coaching package.  I was so scared to ask for money that I almost didn’t!  You should have heard me, it was hilariously awkward.  Once I asked, there was a slight silence (oh god what are they gonna say) followed by, “Great, how do I pay?”

WHAT?! I was shocked!  You’ll learn from Kinja that if you do the process right, your service sells itself, you’re not actually selling!

Cause it’s not about “selling” anything, it’s about discovering more of who you are, how your gifts can positively change someone else’s life, and then understanding what they need.

AND, it’s not about the MONEY!  You’ll hear why straight from the mouth of the #1 salesperson in the world!

How To Live Beyond Your Labels

Who are you? Yes, you! No, not what the world has tried to make you. Not what your past tells you. Not what your worries tell you about your future. Who are you?

If you’ve ever felt like your identity has been completely shattered, then I have news for you…

How To Live Beyond Your Labels

@@“When I discover who I am, I’ll be free.” ~Ralph Ellison@@

Who are you? Yes, you! No, not what the world has tried to make you. Not what your past tells you. Not what your worries tell you about your future. Who are you?

If you’ve ever felt like your identity has been completely shattered, then I have news for you…

Good! You’re on the right path. Give me a second, because I’m sure you’re wondering where I’m going with this.

Well, how do I begin reclaiming my identity once it’s lost? First, in realizing what your identity is. What is an “identity?” Were you born with one? No. Did you suddenly become your “identity”? No.

You created it. We are merely the creators of our identity.

When I was in college I used to define myself as a singer. I was at the best university in the country for musical theater and singing was all I did. In fact, it was the only thing I really cared about.

People would always ask, “What do you do?”

“I sing.”

“Oh, cool! What else!?”

“Uh, I sing.” But it was more than what I did—it was who I was. WARNING: This is very dangerous.

Why? Because what happens when you lose the very thing that “makes you” who you are? Well, I’ll tell you… Listen below for more:

akip

My senior year of college I lost my voice completely to a cancer diagnosis. Yeah, pretty dramatic, even for a kid studying the dramatics.

For two years, my booming baritone turned into a whisper. I no longer knew who I was. If I wasn’t a singer then who was I? Am I a cancer patient now? How will the world know how to define me?

After months of wrestling with this concept of who I was, I finally got some clarity. My best friend and I were speaking one day and I brought it up, “Now that I can’t sing, I don’t know who I am anymore.”

She looked me square in the face and said, “Alex, do you think I’m your best friend because you can sing?” I honestly didn’t know.

“Do you think people only admire you because you sing well?” Again, clueless. “Your talents don’t define you. You are none of those things. You are a loving, generous man, and that has nothing to do with your singing.” Light bulb to my inner light!

Maybe this is all obvious to you, but for me it was a huge revelation. Hopefully you’re not suffering from my label syndrome. Our identity is not our labels!

For the first time I started waking up to the fact that we are only what we say we are. We limit our potential by trying to box ourselves in to descriptions that the world can understand.

The soul does not understand labels. We’re not meant to be barcodes that run through an assembly line like products in a factory. Our identity has nothing to do with our labels and everything to do with our values.

@@We were created so that we can create from our inner values.@@ That is our identity.

So let’s shift the bloggersation.

Knowing and having a sense of identity is still important as long as it’s not about your occupation, achievements, or external gains.

So what is your true identity? Your true identity knows nothing of fear or labels. Your true identities are reflections of love. How the heck do we uncover that?

I’ll tell you!

Here’s an eight-step process to help you uncover your identity (I’ll be the guinea pig):

1. What are the labels you’ve created for yourself?

Easy: Singer. I’ll throw in actor just for fun.

2. What qualities do those labels have in common?

Approval seeking. Giving. Passionate. Loving. Serving.

3. What qualities do you identity as limiting?

Approval seeking.

4. How can you challenge that limiting identity?

By doing something completely embarrassing and/or failing on purpose in front of people. Perhaps making some typos in this bloggesthofihgjh post (that was fun.)

5. Was there a key decision that gave you this limiting identity?

When I saw how much my dad loved me after a performance I gave. I thought the only way to get that love would be by performing. Essentially, seeking approval/applause = love. (Anyone else relate?)

6. What are the consequences of this limiting identity?

Thinking that the only way I can get love is by performing and getting the approval of others. Not showing my true self in fear that I might not be “approved.”

7. What is your life like without this limiting identity?

I’m fulfilled because I’m communicating from a place of authenticity instead of trying to impress. I realize in order to have true love I must love myself first. I know that my true artistry will come when I’m creating from my place of purpose not what I think others want to hear.

8. What action can you take to prove your limiting identity wrong?

Finish this blog, send it off to Tiny Buddha, and not care whether or not it’s accepted (although I hope you’re now reading this, Tiny Buddha readers. So meta).

So there you go! That didn’t take long and you can do that for any limiting quality you might have. My only hope for you is that you become your true self so you can create beauty for others.

Oh, and FYI, if you were wondering, I’m cancer free and my voice is back! I now know more than ever that my true identity is how I show up in the world, not what the world would like to call me.

Let me know in the comments: What’s your true identity look like? How do you plan on claiming it?

Live Light,

Alex

Then why did I sleep in for an extra hour today!?

Some mornings are just flat out tough.  Today was one of those for me.  Instead of getting up right away, I kept hitting that snooze button.  More zzzzzz's please.

Be honest, can you relate?

Well, on this episode of SoulFeed we've got an amazing guest named Ryan Deiss who is an expert in all morning related activities.  Sounds goofy I know but take a listen...

Ryan's been obsessed with teaching people how to start their day in the most powerful way.

One of my favorite things to do with my clients is designing a morning routine.  In my own research, I've found that we're 30% more productive if we set up morning right.  And yes, you must design your mornings.

So when we interviewed Ryan, I was thinking "ah please, I've already got this figured out!"  Nope!  I learned a TON from this interview and you can too by listening here.

Let me know if you end up buying a tongue scrubber or sesame oil to put under your nose.  Huh?  All of that and more on this new episode of SoulFeed.

WHAT'S ONE WAY YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR MORNING TOMORROW?

Let me know in the comments below!

As always, live in love and spread that light ya'll!

Live light,

Alex

What The Heck Is Synchronicity Anyways?

I'll never forget when I first read about "synchronicity" in The Artist Way by Julie Cameron.  The phrase comes from the psychologist Carl Jung where he defines it as, "an underlying connection to the universe that manifests itself through meaningful coincidences."  HUH?!

What The Heck Is Synchronicity Anyways?

You know how people throw that word "synchronicity" around all the time?  What the heck do they really mean?

I'll never forget when I first read about "synchronicity" in The Artist Way by Julie Cameron.  The phrase comes from the psychologist Carl Jung where he defines it as, "an underlying connection to the universe that manifests itself through meaningful coincidences."  HUH?!

I like to think of it as whispers from God (whatever you want to call it) that you're on the right path.

I know, I know - years ago I thought it was complete BS too.  But now I see it all the time.

In fact, in this new SoulFeed episode you'll hear how a BIG SYNCHRONISTIC moment happened last week when I was randomly invited to Mastin Kipp's, "Claim Your Power" event as his guest.

akip

This was at a time when I was feeling pretty burned out.  So I asked for some guidance, anything at all.  Then BOOM, two tickets from Mastin valued at $1000 each out of nowhere, talk about synchronicity!

Tony Robbins says that Mastin "is having a massive impact on the world" and it was such an honor to be at the event.  Listen all the way to the end and you'll hear how I'm returning the favor to you!

I know it sounds woo woo but there is actually some scientific grounding to this found in quantum physics, fractal geometry, and chaos theory.

Am I losing you again?

Then listen here as I reveal some surprising hints about how to tap into synchronicity and how it's working in your life.

You'll start to hear the universes whispers so you can create a life of purpose.

As always, live in love and spread your light.

*BONUS:  Have some FREE giveaway inside the episode that you'll definitely want to grab.  As of the release this morning there are only 5 spots left.

Love Wins (a straight man's perspective)

Love wins! We have witnessed history!  To all my LGBT friends out there this video is for you AND mainly to all my straight friends out there, this video is REALLY for you!  This post will challenge your way of thinking and make you understand how to understand.  Read for more.

Love Wins (my straight man perspective)

Love wins!

We have witnessed history!  To all my LGBT friends out there this video is for you AND mainly to all my straight friends out there, this video is REALLY for you!

I’m sure I’m going to get some whiplash for creating this video, but you know what I’m so proud of what our country stood for that I had to send this.

Actually, it’s funny, I shot this video 5 months ago but waited until now to release it.  Why?  Because I was hoping the Supreme Court would rule in loves favor and they did!

Now, maybe you’re getting triggered by this email and are about to unsubscribe.  But let’s pause for a second and consider the larger conversation at play.

As a straight man who grew up in Ohio I never really understood what it meant to be “gay.”  Why?  BECAUSE I LIKE GIRLS!  A lot…

Then, when I went off to Michigan for musical theatre I was surrounded by a lot of gay people.  Ah!  I hate when I do that!  NO STRAIGHT BOY, NO!  “Gay” people?  We’re all people!  Phrases like that were engrained into my way of thinking.

That brings us to the larger conversation within all of us, and that’s the concept of “understanding.”  We tend to fear or dismiss what we don’t know.  Watch this to see what I mean:

Makes sense, right?

I’ll never forget my first year in college when I met my brother from another mother Kent, who’s openly gay.  We were in the cafeteria getting lunch and I flippantly said, “Ah man that’s so gay, they ran out of pizza!”

He looked me dead in the eyes and said, “Don’t ever say that again.”  I thought I was going to die.

Yep!  That shut me up reallllll quick!

I was just a naïve little Midwestern boy who went around saying dumb stuff like that.  And I realized in that moment I never considered his perspective.

That insensitive straight boy had a lot to learn!

You see, it’s so easy to ignore aspects of life that don’t make sense to us.   To push people aside and pretend like they don’t matter.  We’ve been conditioned to behave and think a certain way that often doesn’t match up with the way love would have us see.

I mean think about it, even the phrase “gay marriage” is offensive.  It’s just marriage!

Yet, the point of this video is not about marriage.  It’s about realizing what you may be blocking from your life simply because you don’t understand it.  Imagine if I had never talked to Kent because I was straight and he wasn’t?  That would suck!  No free Broadway tickets for me!

Instead, get curious.  In this video I’ll take you through some powerful questions that will hopefully change your perspective on things you don’t understand.

In the end, understand that you don’t have to understand.

Does that make sense!  No?  Good!  Lean into the confusion.

After you watch, answer the questions these questions that will unlock your blind spots in the comment below.

1. What are three things you don't understand?

2. How can you explore one this week?

I’d love to know what’s coming up for you.

As always, live in love and spread your light!

Naïve reformed straight boy,

Alex

The Quickest And Easiest Way To Scream Through Frustration

Ever want to scream without making everyone around you think you're psycho?

How do you deal with annoying frustrations that come up in your life?

A couple days ago I was working on editing this EPIC SoulFeed episode and it all went to SHIT.  I’m talking epic, an hour of killer content.  I get about 20 minutes in and the rest of the file isn’t there.  Gone.  Vanished! WTF?!?!?!?!?!

This came at the end of a 10+ hour work day! AHHHHH!  Anything like this ever happened to you?

I had two options: bottle it up or scream.  I decided to SCREEEEAAMMMMM and jump up and down like a fool.  My dog started howling with me, it was quite a scene.  Once the curtain came down on our little drama I felt a strange peace.

Luckily, I just interviewed Hemalayya on the SoulFeed who taught me how to move through these ugly emotions when they come up.  She said that after doing her exercises I would feel 100% better.  I was skeptical but did it anyways, and well, she was right!

Listen to our interview to learn her amazing techniques.

Normally I would put on my positive mask and act like this was all part of some higher purpose.  But you know what?  F’ that!  It sucked!

Now, was losing 40 minutes of an interview a huge deal?  No, I get that.  But it’s a reflection of a larger point.  Listen to figure out what I mean:

hemalayaa

We’ve been taught not to feel.  E-motions is energy in motion.  And if we don’t move those nasty emotions out then they get trapped.

Trust me, you don’t want that.

Now, I’m also not saying that you wallow in self pity.  It’s about moving through them right when they surface so you don’t have to live with it later down the road.

When we experience something traumatic we can either deal with it right then and there or store it into our cellular makeup.  Once it gets stored it’s a lot harder to move out.

Listen how to transform by screaming, shaking, and breathing through those difficult emotions.  Honestly, it is a lot more fun than you think- and you’ll hear Shannon and I shouting like idiots if you want a good laugh.

Let me know how these techniques worked for you!

As always, live in love and spread your light!

Much love,

Alex

The Secrets To Intimacy

It's time to get INTIMATE... ooh la la!

Anyone else get uncomfortable when they see that word?  Me too.  Especially when it's an email from someone like me?  I get it!

This word "intimacy" make a lot of people uncomfortable.  In fact, so uncomfortable that we forget what intimacy is all about.

This word "intimacy" make a lot of people uncomfortable.  In fact, so uncomfortable that we forget what intimacy is all about.

On this episode of SoulFeed, we brought on an intimacy expert for you named Kamala Chambers.

An intimacy expert?  Yep!  Sounds enticing?  Well it should cause she really breaks down the hidden messages of intimacy.

kamala

It's not about getting something from someone else or bedroom tricks (although she talks about that too).  You can have an intimate moment with a blueberry (yep, she goes there too)!

This soul warrior really changed the way I think about intimacy in my relationships and interactions with the people I meet.

Listen here for her profound, yet simple tools, wisdom, and grace!

3 Most Common Mistakes In Relationships

How's your relationship going?  Is that awkward to ask?

It's a sticky subject, whether you're single, married, or in a brand new relationship!

I was just coaching a client the other day and he kept saying, “She doesn’t understand me!  Why doesn’t she get it?”

Is it cause we say some dumb crap as guys?  Or maybe women speak a different language?

No, that's not it!  (I mean yeah I say some dumb stuff…)

It's a sticky subject, whether you're single, married, or in a brand new relationship!

Is it cause we say some dumb crap as guys?  Or maybe women speak a different language?

No, that's not it!  (I mean yeah I say some dumb stuff…)

But be honest... Have you ever had a stupid argument with your partner that left you thinking, "what was that all about?"  Or ever felt like breaking up before really giving it a chance?

I have!  And it sucks.  It’s tough sometimes because we don’t know what to look for when these issues come up or how to communicate a solution.

Well, in this new SoulFeed episode, I got to interview relationship expert Louis Congdon from the Lasting Love Connection.

He’s been involved in one of the nation's largest research project around relationships, and he has some incredible insight for you today.

In this episode, you'll hear about the 3 most common problems in relationships and HOW TO FIX THEM!

And "All my single ladies" (yes, we do sing that in this episode), we got you covered too: he's going to teach you how to attract the partner you really want, not the one you "think" you want.  Hint:  Often they are two different people.

Click here if you want to find out how to powerfully elevate your relationship or start a new one.

Oh, and you'll hear how Luis and I work through problems in our own relationships.  YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

After you listen, let me know, which problem do you identify with most in your relationship?  What's one thing you can do today to have an amazing love life?

As always, THANK YOU for keeping us "New & Noteworthy" on iTunes.  Keep spreading the light by sharing with a friend or someone who needs it most.

Change Your Environment & Change Your Life

Did you see blue and black or white and gold?  If you don’t know what I’m talking about then you might be a little disconnected from the world (in this case it’s ok).

That dress… holy crap, it caused a quite a stir (I’m gonna do a talk about the science of this soon), but what I found most fascinating was how it connected us all.

We are hungry for connection.  We’re socially wired to be a part of communities, to seek connection, and healthy environments.

So what happens when you and I get detached from these things?

“In a meta-analysis of over 100,000 subjects published in 2012... the effects of social connection on health were comparable to smoking and about three times larger than obesity."

Yikes!  I hate this!  So I made a new Kip TV video you can watch here.

In fact, I did some more probing and a lack of connection and a poor environment are one of the biggest predictors of addiction.

Now, hopefully your flares didn’t go off.  I’m not here to call you out.  Shoot, I’m addicted to things!  I can’t freaking put down my phone!  I’m constantly checking my social media, getting bombarded with #thedress, and waiting for someone to SHARE THIS VIDEO!  Ok, not really, but you know what I mean…

Everytime I get lost in these rabbit holes I realize that all I’m trying to do is feel a sense of connection.

I’m here to remind us of the importance of love and share a really powerful story about one of my clients.

In this video, I’m going to show you one of my coaching clients struggles with addiction, how he went from being a cocaine addict, to now thriving and being a voice for other people.  In fact, he’s now making a movie about his struggles to inspire others!  Check out his indiegogo page here to see more, he’s got less than three day left, show some love!

How did he do that?  By of course changing his environment, never looking back, AND most importantly by connecting back to love.

In this episode of Kip TV, I get pretty personal and share some stories about my own life and how addiction showed up.  Why?  Because I want to be vulnerable in an effort to encourage others to step into love.

Make love you drug of choice and give it to everyone you know.

Because that love will fuel someone with the strength to quit.  Loves power is stronger than we think!

So I’m wondering…. let me know in the comments on the full blog

1.    How can you change your environment for the better?

2.   How can you show your love to someone in need?

The potential for change in your life is huge!  We must never forget that.  No matter where we are there is always a way out and love is the vehicle for that change.

Share this video with those who need to hear the message, you never know how it could change things.

Let me know in the comments your answers to the questions.

Live light,

Alex
